Ahead of the Legislature’s return to St. Paul next week, the Minnesota AFL-CIO today released its comprehensive 2024 Legislative Report. The report indexes 45 different votes in the Minnesota House and Senate and assigns each legislator a score from 1 to 100 based on their votes during the 2023 session.
“The 2023 Legislative session was historic, with wins for working people in every zip code, every walk of life, and every profession,” said Minnesota AFL-CIO President Bernie Burnham. “This report shows exactly where our lawmakers stood on the new laws that are set to make Minnesota the best state for working people.”
The 93 lawmakers who voted with working people 100% of the time in 2023 were:

The report includes key votes on democracy, education, expanding union rights, jobs & infrastructure, healthcare, paid time to care (paid leave & sick time), reproductive freedom, worker’s compensation, worker safety, and more. Votes were selected based on the Minnesota AFL-CIO’s 2023 Legislative Priorities, longstanding Labor principles, convention/board resolutions, and affiliated unions’ priorities.
“As Minnesota’s Labor Movement gears up for this fall’s elections, unions and regional labor bodies will consider these votes when making endorsement recommendations,” Burnham added. “Working Minnesotans care more about whether their elected officials have their backs and less about partisan labels – we will support leaders who stand with us.”
